Earl Grey - Charleston Tea Plantation $ 10.25

Earl Grey Pyramid bags from Charleston's Tea Garden. Locally grown black tea with oil of bergamot orange.  Tea is grown, processed and packed on Wadmalaw Island, a short distance from Charleston. Box of 12 individually packaged pyramid tea bags.

The first tea plants (Camellia Sinensis) were brought to the United States from China in the 1700s. In 1888, the first successful tea plantation in the United States was founded in Summerville, SC; a short distance from Charleston. Years later, these tea plants would be transplanted to a new site on Wadmalaw Island on what would later be known as the Charleston Tea Garden. Today, the tea plants flourish on 127 acres making it one of the very few American grown teas available and a unique part of Charleston’s culture and heritage.
